Alison has been a registered Learning Disability nurse in the NHS for 36 years, working with adults with complex neurodevelopmental conditions.
Alison developed a passion for Autism many years ago and completed a degree in Autism studies in 2010. She has been a member of three Autism assessment teams for 14 years and during the past 5 years Alison has worked as an Advanced Autism practitioner within the NHS providing assessment and diagnosis for adults and offering staff education and guidance when required.
She is an accredited trainer in Autism and has also completed a raft of modules in Women and girls, Relationships, Co-occurring conditions and multiple others. Alison has attended workshops and conferences and met many influential Autistic people where she developed a deeper understanding of this complex condition.
Alison is experienced in the use of the assessment tools advised by the NICE and SIGN guidelines and uses those to enhance the semi- structured interviews required when considering an ND diagnosis.
Out with work Alison loves all things horse related and travelling both near and far.
