This appointment offers the opportunity to discuss your thoughts and concerns and to explore whether your child’s profile may be indicative of a neurodevelopment condition which can be helpful when deciding whether to proceed with the full diagnostic assessment.
What to expect
Prior to the initial consultation, we will send a detailed developmental questionnaire and screening tools which will be discussed further during the appointment. The initial consultation appointment lasts approximately 60 – 90 minutes.
Parents/carer/guardian are invited to an initial appointment to discuss the developmental history and current thoughts, concerns, and needs. Your child is also invited to attend to the appointment.
Add a QBcheck to your assessment
You may want to consider opting to include the QBcheck to enhance your assessment. In certain cases, your practitioner may advise this assessment if your situation is complex.
This may be necessary to determine if you should proceed with a full assessment and/or confirm if you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
The Assessment Process
Each family / individual will be sent a range of questionnaires to be completed and returned via email prior to the initial consultation. The information gathered from the questionnaires will provide a basis for the discussion / informal assessment during the initial consultation. When appropriate and with agreement from you, we also request information from nursery, school, college, university or workplace.
Stage two of the process involves an initial consultation which is either face to face or online. This option is also helpful for those who wish to explore whether autism, ADHD or a broader neurodevelopmental profile is likely before committing to the full assessment.
Formal Assessment:
Once all background information has been gathered and an informal observation carried out, the next stage of the process is more formalised assessment.
Follow up formal assessment, will be held face to face in the clinic.
